GETTING OUT OF SOCIAL MEDIA

It feels a bit scary because we are always so excited to share some cool news, like I am starting with a new agency, who is my absolute DREAM agency, I have last minute great gigs coming up this end of season… Which happened to be my case when 2025 kicked off.

But even scarier is to realize that Social Media have taken our personal life over to a point that it becomes scary to leave. Everybody in the music industry tells you that you can’t have a musical career without an extensive use of social media and creating your “own brand”.

Story telling and growing a community has its good sides of course. I got in touch with a handful of cool people on IG and FB. But the list of its limits has been growing in the last few months.

I can’t help but think that I just contribute to a system I am in total disagreement with. Watching L.A. burn while IG’s algorithm requires that you keep posting more and more energy-consuming content like reels and video stories, Meta going rid of its fact-checking policy, and mostly the time that creating content for this virtual world is taking from my REAL life.

I have committed my life to be a professional singer. I have worked so hard to get to the point where I am. And this requires time. Practice, going to concerts, taking lessons, reading books. Would I not become a better singer if I could devote all the time I spend on producing good and personal content online to keep working on becoming a better singer ?

I feel ready to prove this “you-can’t-survive-as-a-professional-musician-without-Social-Media” wrong. I am ready to take that risk for a year and come back to share my experience with you guys.

In the meantime, I will be going back to posting more regularly on my website and launch a good old newsletter !! So for those of you who would like to be kept posted about my professional life, feel free to hit the subscribe button.

And to the others, see you in a year !
